The Advisory Board members expressed their satisfaction that significant progress has been made regarding the DIONE project development since their last meeting almost a year ago. The members meeting was held virtually on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022, to discuss and review the implementation of different technical components, including the validation process and assessment.
The members of the DIONE Advisory Board met virtually on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022, to discuss and review the implementation of different DIONE technical components, including the validation process and assessment. The Board members were represented by the following persons: Philippe Loudjani (JRC), Bojana Lendvaji Vignjević (OCS), Machi Simeonidou (DRAXIS), Kostas Kountouris (OPEKEPE), Grigoris Chatzikostas (FoodScale Hub).
Namely, DIONE (https://dione-project.eu/) implemented a close-to-market and integrated area-based direct payments monitoring toolbox, addressing the modernised CAP regulation of using automated technologies to ensure more frequent, accurate and inexpensive compliance checks.
As DIONE toolbox consists of three overarching components: i) DIONE Earth Observation component, ii) DIONE In-situ component and iii) DIONE Green Accountability component; each DIONE consortium partner prepared a short presentation on the current progress and development of their technical solutions. The scope of the presentations was to briefly showcase their final prototypes, as well as elicit feedback from the Board members. The following tools were presented in detail: Area monitoring markers and super resolution models, Geotagged photos framework, Soil scanning system, Compliance monitoring tool and Environmental performance tool. The responsible partners presented technical development slides and played relevant video material, accompanied by a presentation of the achievements and results that came out from the first round of the pilot activities. The ensuing discussion session was focused on general feedback on technical developments and pilot activities, including prospects on uptake and sutainability of the solutions. Further ideas on networking and liaison activities were suggested, while particular events were proposed. Moreover, the organisation of project’s final event was touched upon, to be discussed in more detail soon as the project wraps up.
